Where can I see a file name

By default when you export Affinity Photo will add the original file name in front of the chosen export file type extension and for documents that have been combined it be the bottom layer that the other images have been placed on and if this layer was a new document then the name will be untitled and the name of the placed images will not be shown

But I have just done an export to a TIFF and it has called it Untitled.

Was it a document with an unnamed bottom layer?

I am not using layers.

I am not sure what you mean by that since all Affinity documents that have any content have at least one layer. A screenshot of your Layers panel before you try to export to any other file type might help make clearer what you mean.
