Hello there! I've been using affinity designer to create cookie cutters with my 3d printer. I usually just trace whatever it is, and expand stroke and carry on my design. But i was wondering if there was an easier way to automatically outline the picture and then expand stroke? Its a picture of a logo with text that i have removed the background. I tried going through Effects -> Outline. This will highlight the outside, but i cannot expand stroke from here. I assume its because its not an object? I'm a novice to this so sorry if my terminology is off! Thank you for your help.

Hi kheffernan1,

Welcome to the forums :)

It sounds as though you're looking for a Vector Trace functionality - unfortunately this isn't a feature of Affinity Designer currently, although we do hope to add this in a future update.

In the meantime, you can find workarounds at the below post -

That's correct, all fx in Affinity apps are Pixel and not Vector, meaning you can't expand this stroke, apologies!
