I can't draw a straight line with pen tool

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am in the process of learning Affinity Designer for desktop. I am trying to draw a straight line with the pen tool. I select the pen tool, plot my point, hold shift, and go to the other end of the line. The line that is created is choppy and raises, not straight. I have provided an image and a video so you can watch.

Does anyone know why this appears not straight.

Interesting.
The “Reset Rotation” function only relates – as far as I know – to the Canvas Rotation and I thought that the user could only rotate the canvas by 15 degree increments.
I wonder how you came to have the canvas rotated by such a small amount.
If the user can’t rotate the canvas by an amount smaller than 15 degrees then it looks like the software has done it by itself, which is a little worrying.
I wonder if anyone else has an explanation.

On Macs, the canvas can be set to any angle if done with a trackpad that accepts gestures & Preferences > Tools is set to enable that:
