ON MY IPAD Storage is completely broken (Now Fixed)

Is storage location “On my iPad” being deprecated by Apple? If so fine I can possibly understand it but if not then this RC is really broken with respect to retrieving files from this location. Both @DM1 and myself have pointed out that it is not possible to retrieve any files from there with V1.8, have you checked it ?

We both try to handle the users complaints in the forums and in my Facebook groups but this is a really bad one. I know V1.8 has to be released co-ordinated with desktop versions but this is not going to win fans.

@Chris BJust been checking external USB drive support which is eagerly awaited, opening RAW from USB drive works well, as does export to the USB drive. I can also save a copy of the afphoto file on USB drive.

But what I can’t do is open the .afphoto file direct from the USB drive, will this also be fixed in the final V1.8 release??

Short answer, yes.

Long answer we really think so yes but have more release testing to do to confirm. We are awaiting TestFlight approval of the iPad release build 1.8.0.168. Unfortunately, it is hard to check the release behaviour in the nominally identical 1.8.0.168 beta, as we think it is being interfered with by the 1.7.3 release settings. With the release build approved by Apple we will be able to confirm these issues are corrected by the updating of the release build from 1.7.3 to 1.8.0. If so that will be the customer experience of 1.8.0 also (not what is seen by the current beta)

We should be able to do this on all our test ipads tomorrow morning.

I've deleted 1.7 and now 1.8 GM beta is integrating perfectly with Files app. Open from Tapping an .afphoto file in Files app opens file in Affinity Photo. Files app's info window now opens in Affinity Photo. LUTs and brushes loading from local storage too! This is a monumental improvement.  🥰
