Decided to switch to using Affinity Photo. I've downloaded it, disabled all virus guards and tried installing and keep getting a message that installer has stopped working and "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly". Ive tried deleting then redownloading the installer but it still comes up with the same problem.

How can I remedy this?! Am I doing something wrong?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @bunter_c.

Is this your first install of one of the Affinity applications?

What OS and version are you running on the laptop?

If you are using Windows please check that the Windows Installer service is stopped and then right click the Affinity Photo installer and select Run as Administrator from the pop up window

I am running Windows 8.1 having just updated it from Windows 8. Yes this is my first install. The Installer service was stopped but when I changed Windows INstaller service to start it got me one screen further but then I got the Affinity Installer service has stopped working error again.

Windows 8.1 64 bit or 32 bit? Affinity products require 64 bit.

Have you rebooted?

Did you try @DWright's suggestion of right-, clicking and choosing Run As Administrator?
