Michail
Do the following: Activate "Align to object boundary" (toolbar at the top). Draw an object (e.g. a rectangle). Move the object horizontally (red lines) or vertically (green lines) while holding down the Ctrl key. Keep the mouse button pressed while releasing the Ctrl key. Result: When switching between copy and move, the object jumps to another position.
walt.farrell
Sorry, Michail, but I don't see an "Align to object boundary" on the top toolbar. Screenshot? Or video? PaulEC
Maybe in the "Snapping" drop down. I don't really get the reason for using the Ctrl key, unless you want to duplicate the object? If you keep the mouse button pressed while releasing the Ctrl key the original disappears. Maybe, but I wanted to know for sure, as even there there's no exact option named that (but that may simply be a factor of translation from a different UI language). In any case, I cannot duplicate the reported problem on my laptop, though I haven't tried on the desktop with an actual mouse. But before doing that I thought I'd try to confirm which setting Michail meant. Staff MEB Posted February 21, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 21, 2020 Hi Michail, If you want to perform a copy you have to release the mouse first. If you release ctrl you are no longer copying but moving the object - thus the original object disappears and the "duplicate" under you mouse is repositioned according to your current mouse position/snapping. Is that "final" adjustment/movement you are referring to? Notice if you press ctrl again (without ever releasing the mouse button) the original object re-appears again in the initial position and the duplicate under the mouse is again readjusted to align with the original object. The described object jump happens when I switch between copy and move using the Ctrl key. So in the video I press the Ctrl key several times after moving and release it again. Staff MEB Posted February 21, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 21, 2020 That's the movement i was referring to and the readjustment to the mouse position/snapping when you press ctrl again. I will pass this to the dev team for comments. Thanks. Michail 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
