Color: Blue (0,0,255 in RGB) displays as purple, prints to PDF as blue

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I read the color FAQ, but I'm still stuck. I'm running Affinity Publisher 1.7.3.481 on Win10 Pro, on a Lenovo P51 laptop.

In the old Serif PagePlus, I can assign "blue" (RGB 0,0,255) to some text, and it looks blue on the screen, and prints to a PDF that displays it as blue.

In Publisher, when I make blue text, it looks purplish.

In Document Setup / Color, I'm using RGB/8 and sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

I've tested this in new documents in all three apps: Publisher, Designer, and Photo, and in all of them the blue text is purplish.

In my Win10 Color Management, I'm using the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 device profile.

I would think that if my system was off, the blue would not display as "blue" in a PDF or in Serif PagePlus, so I'm thinking that I'm doing something wrong in the affinity apps, or something else is kaflooey.

Thanks for any help!

Peter Brown

Hi Peter Falkenberg Brown :)

Sorry to hear you're having trouble, unlike other creative apps, Affinity apps convert colours from document colour profile to screen colour profile, meaning if you have a different profile set against your monitor than you have set in Affinity the app will try to account for this.

Could you please open Edit>Preferences>Colour and provide a screenshot of your settings here?

Can you also please double check the following post to confirm these are the settings you have in Windows?

Many thanks in advance!

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Hi Dan,

Your link to the other article was the solution. The Windows color settings did not have the sRGB profile as the default. When I added that, and restarted Affinity Pub, the color was correct. Here are two screen shots, below.

Thank you for your help!!! I learn something every day. :-)
