Hello amimciltimdim and welcome to the Affinity forums🙂
Unfortunately the file you linked to is not fully vector and contains a lot of image layers.
This can often be the case with vector download sites as a lot of their content will have been made with Adobe Illustrator  and not all the vector information can be read by non Illustrator apps.
And I think this may be another case of an ai file masquerading as an eps file.
See Dan C’s post here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/102800-is-there-any-hope-for-opening-illustrator-eps-files/&do=findComment&comment=578559

Freepik has a link on each download page to this support page, do take note of the second paragraph: https://support.freepik.com/hc/en-us/articles/203578042-How-to-edit-a-vector-file-from-Freepik-
