rgwhitaker Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 I keep having issues with AP 1.7: Though intermittent, sometimes when I want to modify a mask by painting with black, I'll select the paint brush, then when I attempt to paint, it'll paint in white (and yes, I have black selected as the color), or it won't paint at all, meaning nothing happens. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Quote
Staff Lee D Posted February 18, 2020 Staff Posted February 18, 2020 Before painting on the mask I assume you confirm Black is selected on the Colour/Swatches panel and the Brush settings on the Context toolbar are correct? Have you noticed if this occurs with a particular workflow? Quote
carl123 Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 Also make sure you are actually selecting the Paint Brush Tool and not the Paint Mixer Brush Accidentally selecting the Paint Mixer Brush will look like you are painting in white on the mask Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. HVDB Photography Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 If you have a one layered document active and transparent background is not checked ( = white canvas), then what you see is correct. rgwhitaker Posted February 19, 2020 Author Posted February 19, 2020 Everything is as it should be. I'm painting with the BRUSH tool, I've selected black, and for a while, everything's fine, then all of a sudden nothing, when I attempt to paint, either nothing happens, or I get white (when I'm wanting to paint black). Another problem: I'll be painting in a mask (when it works) and then suddenly the brush will be square and hardness at 100%. And no, I didn't change the brush. Really regretting having deleted Photoshop from my system at this point, plus it's annoying you can't adjust a mask in channels with Levels! Quote
carl123 Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 A (full screen) screen recording of when it next goes wrong may highlight something we are missing Make sure the Tools, Colour & Layers panel are visable plus the context tool bar Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Mik Nitram Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 (edited) Had the same problem, So checked Protect Alpha but that was unticked. Then looked at the Brush settings under the tab called MORE and noticed the blend mode was set to Lighten. I changed that to normal and everything went back to the way it should be, Edited January 16, 2023 by Mik Nitram Quote
