[1.8.0.555] New document - Retrieve margins from printer

Recommended Posts

True.

On the other hand, I have always wondered how Affinity would know, when creating a new document, which printer I planned to print it on eventually :)

(I really expected, the first time I used that function, for the program to ask which printer to query. And was quite surprised when it didn't.)

Do we need Margins from Printer anyway? Right now it is based on your default printer. So where is the benefit? Personally I never needed the margins from the printer as a page setup, but often enough clicked on the button by mistake (jumping with tabs through the input fields and hitting enter too early).

Maybe a good place for showing the printer margins would be the printing dialogue, clicking on the print preview.

Retrieving them from the printer can be useful, in case the printer does not support edge-to-edge printing but you want to have the image as large as possible, and be able to see that image as you're designing it. But in my opinion it should ask which printer.

I find it handy for the reason that Walt gives above.

I could obviously remember that I need a margin of 4.2mm, but it is/was convenient to have the button.

I would use it when setting up the page / spread / artboard, rather than just at the point of printing.
