VolkerMB Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Hi there! Because there were just a few problems with text styles in a new document, I wanted to do a reset and restart Affinity Publisher Beta .556 with the ctrl key pressed. Unfortunately this doesn't work: Neither a reset dialog appears nor does Publisher start. Interestingly, this works with Designer .555 and Photo .555 just fine. Am I the only one? Cheers, Volker

VolkerMB Posted February 16, 2020 Author Posted February 16, 2020 Eventually it does work at my end, too. But the behaviour is different from the retail version: When I start APub 1.7.3 with the ctrl key pressed, the reset dialog pops up. But with APub 1.8.0.556 nothing happens on the screen at all. Just the app icon appears in the task bar. Only when I click on it, the reset dialog appears. This might have confused me...

That is exactly how all the versions of all the Affinity products have always worked for me, Volker, since at least 1.6.5. Hold Ctrl and click to start the application. Look at the Windows task bar and wait for the icon. Click the icon. Then release Ctrl. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Rick G Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 I always remember them as Volker stated and there seems to be a bit of a change. They used to pop right up with the reset screen Now it works as Walt stated. Either way it is not a problem here 😁 Affinity Designer 2.2.2075 & beta 2.3.1.2212 Affinity Photo 2.2.2075 beta 2.3.1.2212Affinity Publisher 2.2.2075 & beta 2.3.1.2212 Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 OS build 22621.1928 Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700 CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
VolkerMB Posted February 17, 2020 Author Posted February 17, 2020 Now I've checked it with four different machines here at my end, two running Windows 10 and two running Windows 8.1: ADesigner and APhoto (beta + retail) and APub (retail) all do behave the same way, while APub beta on Windowa 10 (only) does react differently. Now that I know, we can move on... There are more pressing issues with APub than this
Staff Gabe Posted February 17, 2020 Staff Posted February 17, 2020 Hi all, This should be working in the next build
