bob0
Hello, In my workflow I need to apply filters to 2'000+ images. The Batch Job asks me to select the files, and generates thumbnails. This step is extremely slow: the app hangs for minutes and is irresponsive. I think it's because it's generating previews of the images, something that is not really needed. A simple folder select would be more practical and faster (similar to Photoshop batch processing). Lorenzo Alex_M
Staff Chris B Posted February 7, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 7, 2020 Hey Lorenzo, This isn't really a bug but it is a good improvement suggestion. I know we've talked about how to speed this up in the past and I think this would be the solution to try. I can't personally see a need to see hundreds of small thumbnail previews in the dialog as it just wouldn't be practical to sort them—it would probably be easier to sort the images inside Windows Explorer with bigger previews and just dump the folder in. telemax and Monseg 1 1 Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
bob0
Thank you for your reply. I agree that there is no need to see the previews.
Alex_M
+1 It's extremely sluggish even with a small amount of images. Today I had to batch process 165 images and on my 32-core Threadripper 3970x it took about a minute for the files to appear in the list. Doesn't make any sense. Also, it would be great if you can add a drag and drop feature. It takes ages to source the files by browsing each folder from the batch job window. telemax and Chris B 2 Quote Affinity Photo 2.4.2 for Windows ◾ OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 ver. 22H2 ◾ CPU: AMD Ryzen 7950X 16-core ◾ RAM: 64 GB DDR5-6400 ◾ GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Suprim X 24GB / driver 526.98 ◾ NVMe SSD Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB ◾ Monitors: 2x Eizo ColorEdge CS2420 24"
