I'm unable to delete an empty line on imported IDMLs using a backspace key.

For example, open an IDML file, create an empty line with a return key and then try to delete it with a backspace (delete) key.

This doesn't work me. Can anyone confirm this, thanks.

I'm on Mac Catalina, v.10.15.3

Just tried it on an IDML import and works fine. Went to an existing paragraph of text, added a <CR>, then used the Delete key to delete it. Worked okay here.

Confirmed - backspace doesn't work on returns for me on Mojave - I can move cursor back and use forward delete - but backspace key does nothing, only applies to full returns, works OK with a soft-return

Do you only get this after importing IDML, not on a new document?

I can't reproduce on MacOS 10.14 at the moment.

Do you also get this after a CTRL Run up?

The backspace key works OK on any document created in Publisher.

It's only when I import an IDML file that it stops working. 🙂

Here is the IDML file and a short video demonstrating the problem I have:

So, that idml file just crashes when opened on Windows for me, something to do with font encoding which I've logged to be looked at further...

On Mac I can reproduce it, it seem related to the auto correct option "Use tab to alter paragraph level instead of inserting a tab". Backspace seems to be functioning as a tab - I'll also get this logged

Edit: Seems related to the Basic Paragraph text style

Possible, but I have this problem with all IDML files imported to Publisher.

The one I uploaded earlier was just a no frills sample file.
