BluestarCK
I've been noticing that if I have a document with layers for masking that when I try to select an object it's hard to get the selection to snap to the edge of the object, if I remove the background layer above the layer that I'm trying to do the selection on then the snapping seems to work just fine. I'm hoping someone can help me understand this.
Staff stokerg Posted February 5, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 5, 2020 Hi BluestarCK, I'm struggling to reproduce this, so suspect i'm missing something. Could you post a sample file that shows the behaviour?
BluestarCK
Hi this is not quite the same issue but is an example of selection not doing what I want. I was trying to select the whole wharf with the freehand selection tool to remove it but it reverts this triangular shape.
walt.farrell
You have a 1024px Feather value specified on the Context Toolbar, @BluestarCK. Do you really intend that? enlarging image
I am trying to select right up to the edge of my painting - it used to snap to edge. Now it selects in straight lines not snapping to edges. Using affinity 2.
carl123
You appear to have a Brightness/Contrast adjustment selected in the layers panel Try selecting the pixel layer instead Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. AEW177
I’m trying to trace and duplicate a specific item in a photo to a new layer on my iPad. last time I used the free hand tool and had it snap to the edges (magnet icon) and it worked perfectly. It was a few weeks ago and I had just figured out how to do it but now that I’m trying it again, I enable snapping, use the free hand tool, but it won’t snap to the edges of the object and I can’t adjust the selected space like I did last time. Am I doing something wrong or was this part of an update or some thing? Edited October 29, 2023 by AEW177

Can you give us a screenshot of the application window so we can confirm which tool you're using, and what settings you're using? AEW177
So I have the free hand tool selected as well as snapping enabled, but I’m not sure if it’s the snap options that are the issue or the tool I’m using. This isn’t the picture I am trying to edit but the head of the light post is the approximate size of the object I am trying to work with
