Export to PDF

When trying to export my publication, I get an error message saying there was an error on exporting to PDF.

If I export as a spread, no error. If I do pages, there's an error.

It's a 99 page project, I spent an hour exporting ranges of pages and found if I do 1-84, no error, but 1-85 causes an error. I converted everything on p85 to curves and tried again, still an error.

Oddly, I can export 85-99 without an error. So, no idea what's going on here.

Welcome to the forums

Unfortunately as you've used linked documents/images, your file does not appear complete here, meaning the export will not be the same as on your machine.

Could you please follow the instructions in the below post to enable PDF logging on your PC, then attach a copy of the log file it generates to your reply here -

Looks like it's the Anchor text, there was an anchor on pg 70 that linked to pg 85. Going through and removing that now.
Still error...removed ALL anchors and just added hyperlinks to the pages instead.

 

That worked. Looks like anchors are just...not good when exporting.

I agree, it certainly appears to be this Anchor causing the PDF export to fail. Could you please try opening the .afpub file in the beta and see if the export still fails here? You can find the beta linked below

I've spoken with our QA team and this is an issue we're aware of, I'll bump the dev report with your post now and we hope to have this fixed shortly

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (User File Failing to export with Pages selected) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below.

The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts.

• Affinity Publisher 1.8.2.619 for Windows
• Affinity Publisher 1.8.2.619 for Mac

These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version.

Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.2 update/patch to all customers.
