DaveF61
Hello all--I'm new and thank you in advance I'm setting up a new workflow for my photography hobby based on Affinity Photo, which I'm learning and loving. My question stems from the fact that I can't figure out how to open .afphoto files after closing them from Affinity's main page. I'm unable to either 1) Open the .afphoto file by tapping on it in the Files app as I can with RAW and JPEG files I'm saving/organizing there nor 2) Navigate to the Files app from with Affinity Photo's open/import from page. Any help on this would be appreciated. Dave. Edited February 3, 2020 by DaveF61
Staff Dan C Posted February 3, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 3, 2020 Hi DaveF61, Welcome to the forums Sorry to hear you're having trouble! Unfortunately there's a bug currently with iOS 13 that causes Affinity files to be unable to be directly opened from Files, however you can still access these in the Affinity app. From the Homescreen of Affinity Photo, select new document and then Open from Cloud. From here, you can use the arrow in the top left to return to 'locations' where you'll be able to select 'On my iPad' and open the document saved locally. I hope this helps! DaveF61
Hi Dan C, That is awesome--thank you so much! Now I can open all three file types from within Affinity, which is super. One followup question if I may: the .afp files do not have a thumbnail, they appear as a blank (white) tile with filename below--is that something that can be modified within Affinity's interface when saving or in settings? Thanks again
Staff Dan C Posted February 3, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 3, 2020 No problem at all, happy to help 1 hour ago, DaveF61 said: One followup question if I may: the .afp files do not have a thumbnail, they appear as a blank (white) tile with filename below--is that something that can be modified within Affinity's interface when saving or in settings? This is unfortunately another bug in iOS 13 which is caused by a mishandling of the Affinity document format - our developers are aware of this and we should hopefully have it fixed in the next update!
