I have a master spread (page numbers on the left side in the left page of the spread, and on the right side in the right page of the spread). When inserting a single page, following pages do not adept, meaning that left pages have page numbers on the right side and vice versa.

Removing all master pages en then applying them again solves this, but is a time consuming workaround.

Is this a bug, or do I miss something?

There were some issues related to this that have been resolved in the 1.8.0 betas. For the purpose of testing it out, I encourage you to give the beta a try and see if the same issue happens with it. If it does not, then great, the problem has been addressed and will be available once the final 1.8.0 is released. If not, then then your feedback could help further determine what is going wrong.

If you are new to Affinity betas, then a couple bits of advice: if you install the beta, it is a separate install from the release version, so you can keep both side by side, allowing you to test the beta without harming anything about the official release. Secondly, there is nothing stopping you from using the beta version for your real work, but this is not recommended because you risk losing your work from bugs that are still being worked on. Here's the link to the latest beta:
