CrazyPixel Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 Hi guys! I have a problem I cannot really understand. Hope that someone can explain how to make it better: I crated some pages with some text & some symbols. Normal work ... After finishing I created a pdf file which looks great on my screen and sent this pdf to a printing press. The result was bad. The symbols have a dark background. The thing I do not understand ist WHY? I used the same symbols before with InDesign and the result was ok and printable. Same symbols with publisher: not ok. Pls see the pics to get a better idea what I mean. The pen is an imported PNG-file. The plate is a clipboard copy from affinity photo. I talked to the printing press hotline. They told me that there are transparent parts included and responsible for my problem. So I rastered the images and sent a testfile to them: same result :-( Software was: Publisher 1.7.3.481 Any idea to solve the problem? Thanks a lot, Charlie Quote
Staff Gabe Posted January 28, 2020 Staff Posted January 28, 2020 Hi @CrazyPixel, Can you attach the project file in question, please? Quote
CrazyPixel Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 Hi Gabe! Yes, sure :-) Sorry for missing that ... I have no idea why this file is 45MB. The back image is included and original is about 4.3MB. Thanks for checking! Charlie draft_A4_2.afpub Quote
Staff Gabe Posted January 29, 2020 Staff Posted January 29, 2020 What macOS version are you running? There was a macOS issue back in Jan 2019 that was affecting printing transparent PNGs, but that seems to be fixed now. I'm running 10.15.2 Quote
CrazyPixel Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 OMG ... I just see that I posted in the wrong category :-( My bad! I´m using WIN 10. Sorry for that. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted January 29, 2020 Staff Posted January 29, 2020 Still fine even on Windows. Can you attach the PDF you send to the print shop? Quote
CrazyPixel Posted January 30, 2020 Author Posted January 30, 2020 Hi Gabe! Sorry, unfortunately this is not possible. I don´t want to publish my final layout file here in the forum. Thanks, Charlie Quote

CrazyPixel Posted February 2, 2020 Author Posted February 2, 2020 Hi Gabe! Sorry for the delay ... I just uploaded the file, which had these ugly dark background in some pics. Thanks for your help! Charlie Quote
Staff Gabe Posted February 3, 2020 Staff Posted February 3, 2020 The PDF looks fine, and prints fine on our end. If the PDF looks fine and prints wrong, the problem has to be on the printer side. Perhaps it's because some of your images are CMYK ( the table number) and some are RGB (The document background) and their printer does not like that. Either way, you need to talk to them and see what requirements they need for printing Quote
CrazyPixel Posted February 3, 2020 Author Posted February 3, 2020 Hi Gabe! Thanks for checking! I talked to them before I made this post and they said that there are transparent parts in the pictures. I think that they simply made a mistake I cannot verify. They offered a re-print with pre checking my data. I made several (>40) print jobs with this printer and this never happened before. But this was the first print job made with publisher ... Maybe a wrong PDF setting ... maybe sth other. Quote
CrazyPixel Posted February 3, 2020 Author Posted February 3, 2020 Since now I send them everything as PDF/X1a:2003 ... this flattens everything and there are no transparencies any more. Thanks, Charlie Quote
Staff Gabe Posted February 3, 2020 Staff Posted February 3, 2020 There are no transparent areas in that attached PDF anyways, so I don't see how they can blame it on that Quote
