CKC Studios Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Hello, I just acquired a brand new iPad Pro 12.9" 256GB and just started running Affinity Photo for iPad. I am not new to Affinity in any way shape or form and am finding it easy to use but I have encountered a major and very time consuming glitch when dodging and burning. I am a commercial photographer and invested in this iPad Pro and software so I can do portable editing. The glitch I have encounter just happened to me 3 times in a row and cost me over 2 hours of extra editing time. The problem came out of nowhere when I was dodging and burning a portrait and all of a sudden there was a square space where all my work just disappeared. I then had to redo the spot and start all over in that area and blend it all back together. This was extremely frustrating especially after the 3rd time. All 3 times it happened on the same side of the face. The firs time is was from the eye down to the bother of where it is in the picture. 2nd time it fixed it self out of nowhere after hitting undo and redo a few times and the 3rd time is the below pic that did not fix itself. Please see attached picture and advise how I can possibly stop this from happening. Thank you. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted January 28, 2020 Staff Posted January 28, 2020 Hi @CKC Studios, Have you still got a "broken" document that you can attach so we can have a look? Quote

No I had to fix it and move on to get the photo done for the client. I never figured out what caused this to happen 3 times. I have also never seen this happen on the desktop version just the iPad version. The iPad version seems really glitchy and it causes my brand new iPad Pro to keep dimming when I start working in hard with the healing brush or inpainting tool or with many layers. This is not ideal for working on photo retouching as it kills the quality of the exposure and color values. Quote

Hello, So the glitch happened again and I duplicated the file so you can have a look at it. This time it couldn't of happened in a worse spot and this glitch has made the software unusable now. Please see if there is a fix so I don't need to switch over to Adobe. Cheers DSC_4302_Copy.afphoto Quote
Staff Gabe Posted February 3, 2020 Staff Posted February 3, 2020 Do you still happen to have that file opened and see if you have any events in the History Studio? If so, can you save it with history and re-attach it? You can save it by going to Document > Save a copy and tick the "Save history". Bear in mind that you need to do this on the original file. We've not seen anything like this before... Quote
Staff Gabe Posted February 4, 2020 Staff Posted February 4, 2020 Update: I managed to replicate a very similar issue and logged it with our developers. Quote

Is there any way to make it record the whole document? Quote

Is it the same issue with curves in layers? I am really needing this issue fixed, the amount of time it has now cost me makes it completely unusable for my business which isn't good because I love using Affinity. I also have the desktop version and it doesn't do this but I need portable software somtimes. Please keep me updated. Thank you. Quote
Staff Gabe Posted February 5, 2020 Staff Posted February 5, 2020 It does not seem to be the curves adjustment, but paining on Masks. Quote
