Apostrophe problem

In fact, the "typographical quotes" option in the "Preferences" menu always creates a parasitic space before the apostrophe in Affinity Publisher beta 1.8.0.535. The problem is not fixed.

Did Serif announce it was fixed in the release notes for .535 or an earlier release? I didn't notice it, if so.

If not, then it is a reasonable assumption that it has not been fixed.

I've tried to reproduce this and it only happens when I change the language setting in the text styles to French. Changing the language of the UI has no effect.

Maybe this narrows down the search for a solution.

It would only depend on the language specified for the document text, as it's an Autocorrect function, not the language of the UI.

However, there could be an effect from the UI language, because for a new document the UI language will be assumed as the text language in the Base Text Style, and all other Text Styles inherit from Base. Thus, if you were to change the UI language to French, then create a new document, the Base Text Style will have French specified as its spelling language, and all other Text Styles will inherit that language choice.

Changing the UI language should not affect existing documents, however, as their Base Text Style would have been defined as they were created, and should remain set to the prior UI language or whatever the user might have specified manually after that for the document.
