Publisher crashes immedialtely when opening a large doc

Recommended Posts

I meet a big problem with a long document (about 160 pages). I have been working with it for months without problem, but now I cannot open it, Publisher crashes immediately (version 1.7.3, with MacOs Mojave). I really need the file, it represents months of work. Can I send you the file ?

Hi eljaco,

If you could upload the file to our Dropbox here i can get it looked at.

Also it would be worth creating a copy of the file and try opening the copy in our current beta version of Publisher which can be downloaded from here:

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/105716-affinity-publisher-customer-beta-180535/

It's possible if the file is crashing due to a bug that the bug has been fixed in the beta, so worth trying.

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Mac - File with corrupt text styles crashes on load. but loads on windows) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below.

NOTE: The cause of the text styles corruption has been addressed, and any files that have been saved corrupted by this problem can only be loaded in the latest 1.8.0 beta on Windows (which happens not to crash), and should have a text style modified and be resaved and will then load in the 1.8.0 mac beta.

The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts.

These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version.

Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.0 update/patch to all customers.
