Old CCTV image experiment

Recommended Posts

Just for fun I thought I’d have a go at recreating an image from an old CCTV camera using Photo.
It’s not perfect but I’m reasonably pleased with it so far, all done with Live Filters and Adjustments.
If I do any more tweaks then I might post another version.
For comparison, you can find the original image here: https://pixabay.com/photos/city-street-traffic-cars-731239/

MxHeppa: The stripes are a Procedural Texture and the ‘frame’ is a rounded rectangle cut from another rectangle with a Lens Distortion Effect applied.

Fred: Strangely enough, when I let the video run on for a few seconds, and the camera moved round to the right a bit, we can see something come into view just before the feed cuts out. (The man behind the taxi doesn’t seem to have spotted it as he’s still walking slowly towards it.)

On this version I also added some basic interference/glitch effects. Not exactly pro-level work but they’ll do for this.

Glad you like it.
One thing which I found more difficult than I first expected was to find a good image that was taken from CCTV camera height.
Most photos are taken from somewhere outside of the 3m-to-30m-from-the-ground range and, therefore, don’t look very natural for this kind of thing.
However, using the same sort of effects with other types of images I can get a reasonable ‘bad camcorder still’ without too much effort.

These are excellent Garry. I'm loving the Dino and camcorder stills.

Glitch-tastic, mate.      image.png.f54e8a3fdddfd66058105f42c567a900.png      Well done!
