Text Frame borders in Publisher

Recommended Posts

You could use the fill tool to fill a bitmap border to a frame.

The problem with a dashed stroke is it's fiddly to get nice corners.

The problem with any suggestion using strokes is it does not meet the "Apart from using a stroke" criterion. I can't imagine why that would be important, but one way to meet it is as I have none in this incredibly ugly Strokeless Text Border.afpub file.

Why is there even a texturebrush shortcut in the stroke panel in publisher?

Probably so that the stroke thickness of an object stroked with a textured brush in one of the other apps or personas can be adjusted in the Publisher Persona.

I only said that as I could understand how you would do it using strokes by having multiple frames/rectangles nested etc. I was just wondering if there was a less fiddly and more straightforward way , e.g a "library" of preset frames.

"library" of preset frames.

I suppose you could make frames that can be assets, so literally drag and drop, These could be composite so a vertical decorative set of strokes, same for horizontal and if needed some corner embellishments.

A bit like this.

You can also get an effect like the attached image (and afpub document) by duplicating the text frame, removing the text from the duplicate, then giving the duplicated object a Contoured Outline Effect.
Note, however, that the text frames will be converted to rasters upon Export (may be important).
Note also that you need to use two objects (the second doesn’t need to be a text frame) as applying the Effect to the original text frame will also cause the text to have the same Effect applied to it, and that looks very strange.
