When I used the color picker today I go a popup asking for permission to record my screen. I refused the permission since I didn't understand what it was for. But no I understand that it was needed to be able to pick colors outside the app and I wish to change the permission and I can't find how to do it.

It's for Affinity Designer on mac.

Welcome to the forums.
As far as I know, the permission Designer needs, in this case, is only to be able to ‘see’ the screen to be able to get the colour under the mouse pointer and, as such, you should be safe in allowing it.
I haven’t use a Mac for a while but this article might be of some help: https://www.wikihow.com/Change-Application-Permissions-on-a-Mac

Hi Kamylle,

Welcome to the forums :)

This permission is set through Mac OS, meaning you'll need to change the setting outside of the Affinity app.

Please open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the Privacy tab. Click on the lock to make changes (you may need to enter your Mac password here), then tick Affinity Designer in the list of apps here. Now you can press the Lock icon again to save changes, restart Affinity Designer & you should find the colour picker is now working as expected!

Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave.

If you require urgent assistance, please create a new thread and a member of our team will be sure to assist asap.

Many thanks :)
