Hi All,

I see some nice template files in Adobe IN or EPS. I do not use those programs (too expensive) and happy user of Serif for many years. Can Affinity Designer or Publisher open the .IN files or .EPS files? Can I then edit these in Affinity? I do not want to buy template and then I cannot open/edit. I think EPS file might work as I tried a vector EPS file with Affinity Designer and that worked. Anyways, wanted to know from expert community. I think the Serif templates we had for PagePlus were a nice idea also.

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the '.IN' format, is this an InDesign file? If so, is this a .indd file, or an .idml? Unfortunately the latest Publisher beta (1.8) can only open .idml files, not .indd.

In regards to the .EPS files, Affinity apps can open these, however if the .EPS file has been created in Adobe Illustrator then it's likely an .ai file hidden within the .EPS container. If this is the case then the design will be rasterised upon import and you will be unable to change any of the elements.

We're currently working on implementing a template function into our next update, version 1.8, so hopefully this should be available shortly!

If you are referring to InDesign files (*.indd), what I have been successfully doing is;

1. From InDesign 2020, export to PDF.

2. Open in Publisher.

You'll lose much of the complex functionality such as cross-references, interactive controls, etc. that the native INDD file had, but all of the editable artwork, editable text, and correct page layout will be there.

Thanks guys, managed to get a EPS file also. I could not edit text easily, e.g. a word or sentence came out as individual letter vectors, but at least I got a lot of the layout etc.

Love the serif community, thanks for helping others
