How make fake skin texture ?

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!  I have a question to people here who make high-end retouch the skin: In photoshop there is texturizer filter (sand) which give oportunity to make fake structure on the skin. In Affinity Photo on Ipad i can't find any option to add fake skin structure (besides add noise which is not good solution in my opinion). Anyone can help me? Picture at attachment is for example. Best from Poland. Katarzyna.

You could apply a 'texture' layer, if you can find a suitable skin texture or make your own.

I did a 'flag overlay on face' tute for iPad some time ago so definitely doable. I'll see if I can find it for you. Pretty sure it’s on Pauls Facebook site.

Video above is for desktop and appears a little complex, though results do look good.

A simpler method utilises a Displacement map filter. Steps from memory. Working with pixel layers (images may need to be rasterised) first. You can convert to b/w and blur to create a separate map but easier as per below.

1. Open background layer (hand).

a. convert this hand image to RGB/16 bit (gives a better displacement result than 8 bit).

b. Place flag image layer and Rasterize it. Change layer option to overlay or soft light.

d. add displace (live) filter to flag layer and tap 'beneath' in Context menu. (Takes a few seconds to process). Adjust Strength in Context menu. .

e. finish with a mask on flag  layer to paint out anything not wanted.

sample below using this technique with flag dragged in off on pixabay. Tried to attach file here but too big for forum.

Hi Paul,

thanks but I’m not sure all of those functions are on the iPad version to allow that to be done.

All the necessary functions are available in the iPad version.

DM1 that's exactly what I'm trying to do.  I keep searching YouTube to no avail.

Found my short tute. (The black and white plus blur step gives great result but is not essential.) Hope it helps someone.
