I have been given a pixel file of a logo. I opened it in Designer and traced the outline using the pen tool. The "document setup" was set to transparent background. Having "penned" the image and filled with colour and set further effects I saved the file. It looked just as I wanted it. I then exported the artwork to eps format. When I then opened the eps file in Designer or Photoshop the logo has a white background within the bounding box. What do I do to not have the white background.

Hi kimphot and Welcome to the Forums,

Can you attach the .afdesign file and i'll see what the issue.  I suspect something will be getting rasterized causing the white fill, but without the afdesign file its hard to say.

Hi kimphot,

Thanks for the file.

Its the layer effects you've applied.  The format EPS doesn't understand/support these, so it has to rasterize them.  You'd need to create those shapes without using the layer effects.

Hi Stokerg,

Thank you for your quick response. That leaves me with a dilemma! The client wants the effects. I suppose the answer is to save it as a png and when the garment printer reduces the size it will be crisp. Alternatively, if the garment is white, it won't matter!!

Thank you again for providing the solution so quickly. The upside is I did find out a lot of useful info about using the programme whilst trying to sort it myself over several hours.

Back to the drawingboard!

Does it have to be EPS? Maybe PDF could work?

Hi Joachim_L,

Thank you for your input: I have just tried exporting as a pdf and that does give me a whole transparent background.
