Photo Beta 1.8.0163 not able to open Tif-files

Recommended Posts

Hello, unfortunately APhoto Beta 1.8.0.163 is not able to open Tif-files, no matter whether via the menu (Command-O) or directly with a right mouse click (Open with ...)
JPGs, PNGs, SVGs, EPS and aphoto-files works normal.

Best regards, Puck

"not able to" as in tries and fails, or "not able to" as in the file is not showing in the open dialog?

If the former, are you able to provide a sample file there are tens (possibly hundreds) of variants defined in the tif file format.

Hmmm...

Very odd. I did a quick test and exported a couple of files from the beta. IMG_2466 bta 1 has the include affinity layers on and it opens in the beta and the retail, the other export IMG_2466 bta 2 has no include affinity layers and it will not open in the beta via the open dialog or using a right click and open with ...

Both open fine in the retail version and the open dialog has the thumbnail for the 'bad' 2 version but a standard OS TIFF icon and the bad 2 won't open in Preview.

Sizes are wildly different too.

If you want I can zip them up.

I would expect size differences if you saved Affinity layers in one of them. It should at least be roughly different by the size of the related .afphoto file.

"not able to" as in tries and fails !!

They are all tif-files which can be opened in Photo 1.7.3 without problems. I created them in APhoto.

And as "Old Bruce" mentioned, tiffs with layers can be opened in the beta (I just discovered that because I usually never save tiffs with layers.)

Unfortunately uploading a Tif does not work.

I can second that, I can't load any tiff file anymore with beta. Same from the finder and open with ... :-(

Steps:

Open a raw file in the APbeta

develop the raw file

export it as tiff/16bit

try to open the same file with the APBeta - > nothings happen ( open with.. in finder or open from inside the App - not loading)

try to open with the AP 1.7. voila the file will open

Should have been more clear, Opened a.raw file immediately exported it as TIFFs with/without layers even though the only layer was the background. So 235 versus 97 for no difference other than a checked box...

And what is the size of a .afphoto if you save the RAW immediately after development?

A TIFF with Affinity Layers saved is, I think, the normal TIFF (e.g., for you, 97MB) plus the .afphoto file (including history, snapshots, etc.).

Yup, just tried an old TIFF and it wouldn't open at all. Didn't crash the program but would not open. This TIFF was not made in Affinity. From quite a few years ago, shows created in PS 7. It does Open in APh 1.7.3 and does Place just fine in APub beta 523.

It will Place into a document in the Photo beta but it will not open in the beta. Odd.

Thanks, Old Bruce! I hadn't even tried that. But yes, it works :)
