AyoMartins Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Does anyone know a way to make the background gray levels within Affinity Designer for iPad consistent, so it looks the same even when you create a new artboard? Right now, the gray gets a lot lighter when I add a new artboard to my document and I cannot seem to find a way to make it darker. I’ve attached a short recording of my screen to illustrate the problem. Thanks for any help! Also, Affinity Designer doesn’t remember my settings within the App when I close and open it again. I normally have to turn on snapping every single time I lunch the app, it’s become a small annoyance. IMG_3865.MP4 WhiteX, shushustorm and AHAM 2 1 Quote
Staff Callum Posted January 8, 2020 Staff Posted January 8, 2020 Hi AyoMartins, Welcome to the forums Unfortunately there is no way to avoid the background colour change I'm afraid as when you create an Artboard the background becomes a pasteboard. Thanks C AHAM 1 Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
theLateWizard Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 But there is a way to adjust artboard gray level on Desktop, is there not? Can we PLEASE have a darker background option for using artboards on the ipad? I often design late at night and it really hurts the eyes to have the whole screen white (bright gray). This is my number one request for Affinity iPad, please please please can this change OC3, shushustorm, AHAM and 4 others 5 2 Quote
Fradim Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I think only option is to create rectangle of color you want, place it under all artboards and lock it. theLateWizard 1 Quote
theLateWizard Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Nice, seems like an okay workaround, but it would still be nice if this were just natively the case. With as amazing and complex this app is, I can't imagine adding an option to change the background color for artboards is a very high inertia development task AyoMartins 1 Quote
WhiteX Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 @Serif Plaease make this happen. This feature is very important. That's the first thing I set when I install any Affinity apps on Desktop. It would be nice if we could do the same on iPad. That light background is not good for battery or late night drawing / design sessions. Okin Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 +1 on this. Why do pasteboards have to be (ugly) light gray? Really confusing on the eye since I got used to it being dark vivera 1 Quote
vivera Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 +1 on this. Please make the background grey level like Affinity desktop. So it can stay dark when artboard is created. Thank you. Quote
Xathepset Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 A similar question. This gray background is just awful! I want it to be dark! Quote
muchitto Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 +1 for this. What is the reason for the change to lighter gray anyway? As said here, the change is pretty jarring. It wouldn't be an issue at all if you could customize it, but as usual, the iPad version has some of the smaller desktop features/conveniences omitted for no apparent reason... 🙁 Quote

WhiteX Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 @serif, you really think this is okay? Come on... Desktop version has background color adjustment for artboards... we really need is for the iPad version. AyoMartins 1 Quote Branding, Identity Design, UI/UX Design. | https://whitex.design
Strangechilde Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Late perhaps but I would like to add my 'Yes please' to this request. I know I can use a rectangle, but not having to go through this step every time for every artboard would be a great improvement. Quote
OC3 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I vote for this too: dark background option for artboards on iPad. iuli 1 Quote
