I had a project saved on my computer few days ago. Today I planned on completing the project and tried saving the project but it doesn't let me save the document, it keeps giving me an error message saying, "Changes to the file are not allowed.". I even tried to save the document in different file format or with different name to different location but yet again it still gives me the same error message.

If anyone who know to solve this problem please do reply to this forum. I would kindly appreciate it.

Thank you.

to different location

To another disc? Not to the user folder (c:\Users\)?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums.

Please show us a screenshot of the error message you received, and let us know what OS you're running.

Thank you all for your helpful response.

The problem has been fixed. It's weird but all I did was restart my computer and tried saving the project and it didn't give me any error at that time.

Kind of not happy and worried about the error for the future because I tend to save my project half and continue later and I don't want to lose all my hard work because of this error. This time for me it wasn't a big change to my project so it wasn't a problem restarting my project back again. I can't quite say if the error was caused because of my computer system or the software error from Affinity. If its the software than I hope it gets fixed in the future update.

Again, thanks to all of you for your help. :)

I have the same problem, since about a week. It will only export after I restart the computer. Sometimes it won't even allow me to save the file.

Never had this problem before and have worked with Affinity for a few years on my Mac now. Please help.

Yes, this is problem with User directory. Try save to other location.

On Macs, by default every user should have the necessary permissions to save files to their own home folder locations (like /Users/silviashinn/Desktop).

Yes, in Windows also, of course. But also this personal folder can be protected against unauthorized access, such as system protection against ransomware.
