Just signed in to see if footnotes have been implemented yet. Looks like 'no'.

I'm just waiting for that, before I purchase and finally move off InDesign in my ancient Adobe CS3 license. 

But, sadly that's not yet!

No need to wait for this feature to be implemented with your purchase. Unlike other applications, Affinity updates are free of charge, so when the feature is added, you get it as well.

I suppose it depends on whether footnotes are likely to be a feature that is added into an update of the current major release (free), or whether it will only appear as a feature in a future upgrade release (paid). I can't use Publisher seriously until footnotes appear, so I might as well wait until that becomes clear. Not that I am in any way throwing shade on Affinity's pricing model - it's hard to see how it could be any more excellent. But ya know, money's money, and on principle one shouldn't waste it.
