Organic Brush Set (Special) and Greyscale/Monochrome StyleSheet
Been experimenting with creating a set of raster brushes based upon the variation of a single pattern ..just to see what can be achieved.
New grey-scale Style Sheet and 30 experimental Raster Brushes added to resources:
1. Monochrome Styles
2. Raster Brushes

Appreciation for the huge amount of work that went into creating the brushes and patterns. I am sure many will find good use for them.

One observation perhaps; if in the vector stage (assuming vectors were drawn to create the brushes) the objects are grouped and a circular transparency gradient is applied for brushes that have the same length and width or a elliptical gradient transparency is applied to a long stroke, the brushes can be used to 'paint' almost as when using pixel brushes. Sometimes applying a Gaussian blur to the brush strokes, these can be used to fill in an area or shape, which is useful when creating pores and facial creases in portraits for instance. I may post examples of this technique in the near future.

Thanks!..much appreciated..it is a lot of work but fun...:)!

Totally agree with you blend to edge effect (Gaussian blur) for brush strokes. I read with interest your posting in resources recently. But for me it depended on what exactly is the purpose of the brushes. Most of the brush elements are vector including the seamless patterns. This has evolved over time as when I first started the library most of the brushes created were 'raster based'. To get the blended edge I 'erased'/ smoothed back with another texture brush set some some opacity value...This is still true for the 'Grunge Brush/splatter sets'

I have used a similar technique for 'vector' based brushes by grouping and applying transparency to grouped objects (Horizontally an vertically). You can see this with the Brush set for 'Poison' and those for 'Ammonite'. For the  Inkbrush set/s as the tools were built for inking (black and white) [raster and vector] I simplified the brush dynamics to exclude accumulation and flow jitter and applied high %age of hardness.(reduced blur)..For this set of pattern brushes and Camouflage I brushes it is not the case.

Currently experimenting with the greyscale equivalents for the 'coloured' style patterns/base textures which have been produced in conjunction with this...to amplify the organic texture...sort of getting better results by importing coloured versions with higher contrast/colour divergence

Look forward to you posting your techniques...always something to learn!:)

Hello, thank you so much for the impressive work, but is it me or aside the 01 there's a problem with the downloading of all the Organic Pattern Brushes 02 to 06?
Thank you for your help.

Hi and thanks!

There isn't a problem...it's just that I have not made all my brush sets freely available. The current brush library is very large!:). I usually provide a single set or sample set on the forum. Available brushes and the full library is listed in resources here:

There are 2 brush sets associated with this project you can download. The test set (using a mix of a single pattern) is buried in Camouflage Patterns. here

If you are interested in texture patterns there are a couple of other sets that you could take a look at.

Dinosaur is the most prominent...and one of my favourites:

But also Camouflage I has a similar sample set

I am currently working on updates to the original texture brushes using a couple of newish techniques for creating the brushes. but this project (PB 27 Texture Paint) is far from completion.  There are some image sheets visible here if you want to have a look at the progress
Inker (PB 19) has a few of the new texture patterns mixed in with the set

Thank you so much for your kind answer. 👌
I also downloaded Dino and the results are stunning.
Do you sell some brushes or styles collection somewhere? (sorry if you already had mentioned this in the main topic, I might have missed it)

Thanks...!
I have not been selling them!..I should! but that was not the initial purpose of the library

I missed a set that you may find useful though...

Absolutely agree! Vector brushes are almost infinitely editable, which is great for vector portraits and other images that have organic aspects. The standard hard edges of vector objects can be blurred subtly (adding scale with object), which gives them an appearance that makes them indistinguishable from (more realistic) pixel art. The editable fx and colour gradient tool allow to tinker until the desired effect is achieved. I was never able to create such properties in AI or CorelDRAW. Inkscape came close, but its UI has a rather mind bending learning curve. Also, if gradients and / or transparency of an object is in more than one direction I simply duplicate the object, apply the desired gradient (that is in a different direction) and apply a transparency to the part of the object that isn't needed (sometimes tinkering with the object filter in the Layers panel and applying a gaussian blur). It is far more efficient than mesh colouring and far easier editable afterward, which is a huge time saver compared to the tedious mesh colouring. All this makes AD the very best vector program available and all that for a price that the competition is unable to match!

I did use a lot of blur on my watercolor project but mostly shading. I have to try blurring my lines and see next time . This is excellent tip.
