robbrich Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Hello, I have been using Affinity products on and off over the past couple of years, and each time I open it I get the urge to disconnect from Adobe - and then there is something that always comes up to remind me why I can't do that as of yet. The most recent reason is the inability to open files created in Illustrator when those files use gradients or mesh gradients. I have a client that has gradients and gradient mesh areas in their logo. When I open the logo in Illustrator (where it was created) the image is fine. But when I open it in Affinity Designer, the gradient mesh area displays filled with just white. When I open an eps file from iStock, it's also always a question of if it will open correctly. Recently, I was doing a flyer and found a nice vector image on iStock that had some overlapping circular gradients on top of a gradient background. When I open it in Illustrator, it's clean, but when I open it in AD, the circular gradients have a white outline that doesn't seem to be something I can disable (no stroke). This same behavior with gradients (on both of these files mentioned above) also is present in Affinity Photo. Any ideas on how I can make this work? Thanks, Robb Quote
Staff stokerg Posted January 7, 2020 Staff Posted January 7, 2020 Hi robbrich, Affinity Designer doesn't currently support Gradient Mesh which will be why they don't load correctly in Affinity. Once we get our own Gradient Mesh tool i would expect this to improve greatly. As for EPS files from stock websites, this is a common issue and as explained here is down to the EPS file also containing an AI file, we which can't read. predick 1 Quote
