rongittings Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I can't seem to get uniformity when using 'Justify All'. I'm producing a newsletter and using double columns. In some areas when I use 'Justify All' to align left and right text there's no problem at all. In other areas where there is a last line consisting of just one or two words those words are spaced out to fill the entire width of the column. Even when I use the same 'Paragraph' settings as those used for the text that's fine I can't seem to get rid of the problem. In PagePlus I would just have highlighted the offending text and 'left justified' it and the problem would be solved, but that can't be done in Publisher. I feel that I must be doing something wrong but can't figure out what! Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Quote
GarryP Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Have you tried using “Justify Left” instead of “Justify All”? Quote
rongittings Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 Hi, yes, 'Justify Left' works fine and I could leave it at that but. I prefer to 'Justify All'. I just think it looks neater in the newsletter and now that I have this problem it will nag at me until I know the answer, even if the answer is that 'it can't be done' then at least I'll know. Quote
PaulEC Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I think you're actually using Align Left, rather than Justify Left. In the Paragraph Tab, use Justify Left (not Align Left}. – For some reason there are more options there than on the context toolbar. rongittings Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 Great, thanks. That's got it sorted. Quote
rongittings Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 GaryyP, my apologies. I can see now what you meant. Quote

PaulEC Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 You're quite right, Walt. I forgot the drop down arrow. I really should check this sort of thing, rather than relying on (my ageing) memory! GarryP Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I think it might be worth pointing out that Justify Left is only in the Context Bar if that was the last option you chose from the drop-down, or if you haven’t changed this setting since the application was launched. If another alignment/justification type was the last option chosen then you can’t see it. A small point, but worth knowing I think. (It defaults back to Justify Left after relaunch.) rongittings: That’s okay. I should have been more specific to make the difference between Align and Justify clearer. Glad you’re sorted. Quote

GarryP Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Absolutely, but it might not be visible all of the time, which your earlier answer seemed to suggest, as in: “Both… are on the Context Toolbar”. That was the only point I was trying to get across. walt.farrell 1 Quote
