Hello everyone!

I plan to buy a new printer (Canon Prograf Pro 1000).

DXO PL3 is my main raw converter and my main program. Every now and then I export tiff files into Affinity Foto. DXO PL does not have softproofing options, so I will possibly use Affinity Foto more in the future (soft proofing).

Now, I wonder if there is any general " rule" / maybe consensus or general guidelines, on how much (extra) sharpening a file needs, when I print from Affinity Foto. I don' t expect a fixed rule here, but mostly interested in personal experiences. Maybe nothing can be said in general, but then I know I have to experiment a lot.

I like to see A2 prints up close!

Thank you very much!

That really depends on image and intended purpose. Usually I start with USM values R 1, F 1 and T 10%. In PS they would be about F 100 / R 1 / T 10. The better the printer, the more onscreen sharpening is like in the on in printed piece.

Some images take sharpening gracefully, some others develop artifacts easily.
