Affinity Publisher "Setup Failed"

Recommended Posts

Uninstalling the beta should not have affected anything, Grendel.

When you say "now Publisher 1.7. won't start" what kind of error do you see? Also, have you tried restarting Windows?

When you get a "Setup Failed" message trying to setup an Affinity program on Windows, you should be able to get some additional information from the setup logs, so that might help explain what happened when you tried to repair. To see them, press the Windows key and R, which will bring up a Run dialog. In the box, type (or paste) %temp%\AffinitySetup and then press OK. That will open a File Explorer window for that directory, and there should be some subdirectories inside it. The newest one will be for your latest install attempt.

Open that directory, and you should find two files: Setup.log and SetupUI.log. They are plain text files and you can look in them using Notepad or another text editor. Often, doing a Find for the word "error" (without the quotes) will get you right to the spot that describes the problem. Or you could attach the files to another post here for Serif or one of us to look at.
