Create new table with exact number of rows and columns

Recommended Posts

Unless I am missing something, it seems the only way to create a new table is to draw one. The problem is, as the table gets larger, new rows and columns are added. But if I want a table that is physically larger but with not so many rows and tables, I have to go back and delete the unwanted ones after creating the table.

For example, if I need a new table that is, say, 3 columns and 6 rows, but I want the table to be 7.5 inches wide, I am not able to draw it as desired. Instead, as I increase the drawing width to 7.5 inches, it creates 6 columns automatically.

One alternative is the way it's done in MS Word: you have a choice of drawing a table or creating one via a pop-up with the desired number of rows and columns.

However it fits best into the APu interface, please add this feature. Thanks!

Just drag out a table with 3 columns and 6 rows then size it in the Transform panel but putting 7.5 inches in the W (width) field.

Or drag out a table with 3 columns and 6 rows, release the mouse button and then grab the right-hand middle handle on the table and drag right to the size you want
