I autogenerate barcodes in jpg and eps - bars and numbers below. Unfortunately when I open the eps file in Designer (the latest) it does not have any referral to the numbers below the barcode. It does not even tell me there is missing a font or the like.

When I open the same file in Illustrator the numbers are present, but Illustrator tells me that the font is missing.

It is quite troublesome that numbers just seem to disappear out of the eps fil when opened in Affinity Designer and not in Illustrator.

Anyone have a solution or is this a bug?

The eps is attached for people to see for them...

Sounds good. Can I run beta and latest release parallel? I suppose if I work in 1.8 I cannot open files in 1.7?

Yes, they can be installed side-by-side. As noted in the disclaimer, the beta isn't intended for production work, only for testing of (and feedback of) the latest fixes and features.

I opened the eps in the 1.8 and the text is now in the file. But instead of being imported as actual text that is editable, it imports as curves. That is not an optimal solution. Maybe this needs to be logged in the further development?

This would be a further improvement. I see that your example "Terry Burton barcode generator" file does include text.

I will get this improvement reported to see if it can be made an option, although the report of this (on Mac) a while back was closed as "by design". This is mainly because the library can provide precise outlines, irrespective of whether the font is installed on the computer, so this is the most accurate import.

Thanks for the information and quite sure you guys in development made a deliberate choice. In case of the barcodes it doesn't really matter if text is imported as curves as long as it does not disappear. But sometimes you get eps files, where you might need to make different language versions, and it that case, editable text would be nice. Anyway - thanks for keeping it in mind and thanks for great software!
