Hiker Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Hi, I've searched the forums and video tutorials etc and can't find an answer to this question so I'm hoping an experienced user of Affinity Photo will know the answer. A few years ago I used to use a plugin called "Viveza" that was fantastic. I could drop a point and then make all sorts of adjustments around that point and it would blend naturally into the rest of the photo. It was part of the free Nik Collection that Google released. I found a lot of posts on these forums about the Nik Collection but none that say whether a Viveza type of functionality is built into Affinity Photo already. If it is not, then is there a way to achieve this using only the native tools in Affinity Photo? Thanks! Quote

I haven't used Viveza yet, but recently I was editing a couple of photos in APhoto, among others using the Analog Efex Pro 2 plugin from the free collection. The main issue with the old Nik Collection is the installer that may or may not work properly on recent versions of Mac OS. Eventually I made it work on El Capitan somehow. Haven't tried on newer MacOS yet. Oh, and you must have the Arial font enabled, otherwise the plugins may crash. No idea if it's still downloadable somewhere. But I'm always backing up every installer that I've downloaded in the past, say, 20 years. firstdefence Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 The current version of Viveza 2 works very well in Affinity Photo. Hiker Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 Thanks everybody for your replies. I'm guessing from your instructions on how to install Viveza that the functionality is not built into Affinity Photo. I thought it might be because Viveza is so powerful that it seems like something everyone would want to implement. Anyway, I'll use your info to install Viveza as an addon on my Windows 10 machine. Thanks again! Quote
Staff MEB Posted December 17, 2019 Staff Posted December 17, 2019 Hi Hiker, Welcome to Affinity Forums The U-point functionality (setting adjustment points) you found in Viveza was developed for the original Nik Software (by Nils Kokemohr). It's patented so it's unlikely you find it anywhere else other than on the current DxO software who acquired Nik Software from Google (which acquired Nik Software itself a few years earlier). You can still get the free Google version from this link. It woks fine in macOS Mojave and Windows (i haven't tested it in macOS Catalina yet). Alternatively you can acquire the latest Nik Collection v2 from DxO. We don't have similar functionality in Affinity Photo but the live adjustments and filters coupled with their built-in masks also offer an easy way to control localised adjustments. Hiker Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 @MEB - Wow, great and detailed information, thank you! That's exactly the kind of info I was hoping for. I'll have a look at live adjustments, filters and masks. I'm new to Affinity Photo so still learning how everything fits together. Quote
