Pixel work in Designer making PC slow

Hi I have been creating vector images in Designer and going into pixel persona to add some pixel work.  However, I'm finding that it's slowing Designer down so much it becomes very difficult to use.  At first, I thought it was because I had accumulated too many files on my computer so moved them to an external HD but the problem is remaining.  If I just use vector images without any pixels everything works fine.

I have attached a screenshot of the kind of work I'm doing plus the Performance settings I'm using.

Welcome to the forums

If you change the renderer dropdown shown towards the bottom of your screenshot to the other options available does this issue still occur?

I've tried that and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
