Affinity Designer freezing on design persona

Recommended Posts

Affinity Version : 1.7.3.481
Windows 10 update version : 17763.864

-

Hello,

Before anything I'd like to precise that I have checked the third party softwares list that tend to make AD crash, I happen not to use any of them.

I currently have an issue with the designer persona.
I do tend to switch regularly between the pixel and designer persona. Both give me a different issue but this is the topic for the designer persona issue.

What happens :

- I switch at one point to the pixel persona
- I do what I have to do (usually using the brush and sketching)
- I switch back to the designer persona
- And at this point I better save because, after using a designer tool such as rectangle or any shape tool, Affinity Designer just freezes and won't enable me to do any single action.

For some reason though, it seems to not ENTIRELY freeze, as I can right click in the task bar and close another file if I have more than one opened, but I just can't work anymore at all.
Windows doesn't seem to detect Affinity as non-working either (I mean, no error popup from Windows indicating that Affinity might be non-working).

I end up having to close Affinity and restart.
It has happened already a few times to me but the error isn't systematic either.

I don't know if it may have an influence on the bug but I use a Wacom Cintiq to work.

I feel like it's not really liking my happy switchings between a pixel and a vector mode...

Thanks, hoping you might be able to help with this :)

Hi Balthazarn,

Could you try using the 1.8 beta available here to see if that solves the issues you are having please?

There was some known issues using Affinity Designer with a tablet that uses Windows Ink. If that is still a problem could you disable the 'Use Windows Ink' checkbox in your Wacom settings and see if that solves the issue please?
