shustovcreates Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Hi guys! Im very frustrated, hyphenation doesnt work. I tried 2 different hyphenation dictionaries and followed all instructions ginev on your help page. I tried these one: https://github.com/Kozea/Pyphen/tree/master/pyphen/dictionaries https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries/tree/master/ru_RU Everything is stored in: This is a video Im showing it doesnt work. Please help! this is crucial for me P.S.: I use publisher beta on the first video. its unintentional, but behaviour is the same on beta & stable versions Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 You might try changing the folder name from ru_RU to ru-RU. I'm not sure why, but some languages seem to use the _ and others the - and it seems unpredictable, to me. shustovcreates Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 @walt.farrell Hello! thank you for reply. I tried it - unfortunatly nothing changed Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 That's unfortunate. Question, is spellchecking working in Russian for you? shustovcreates Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 @walt.farrell No, it turns every word red. If I right click on it, options are :ignore spelling or learn spelling. nothing more Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Are you sure you have specified the language correctly? With the text cursor in one of those words, what language is shown for spelling and hyphenation in the Language section of the Character studio panel? shustovcreates Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 @walt.farrell Russian for russian text and english for english text. hyphenation language should be on auto by default but I switched it to be exact, and make sure it still doesnt work. Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Sorry, but I'm out of ideas for now. On a positive note, the fact that you can select the languages at least means that you've got the dictionaries properly installed. But it remains odd that they aren't working. Staff Lee D Posted December 9, 2019 Staff Posted December 9, 2019 Can you try using these versions, we've sourced them from LibreOffice and work on our systems, see screenshot. I used the following location to install them to: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Publisher\Resources\Dictionaries\ru-RU\ The second screenshot (From Forum) are the LibreOffice files you linked to in your first post, installed into the same location as the first set. It seems Publisher doesn't like these versions so I'm having them looked into a bit more. ru-RU.zip Quote
shustovcreates Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 @Lee D Wow. thank you. With your files it worked. This is sourcery. I would love if affinity shipped publisher with russian preinstalled since russian interface is already there. Thank you so much! Quote
zhanchik Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 Just wanted to say thank you for resolving this issue. I also had this same problem and the solution posted by Lee D worked for me. Using Mojave on Mac. Quote
