skiphunt Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 I'm sure it has to be in there, but I can't find a key command or menu selection that will hide the entire interface of Photo and just show the image you're working on fit to screen with nothing in the background. There used to be a command like that in Photoshop but I can't find similar in the Affinity apps. Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 It depends to some extent on whether you're using Windows or Mac, I think. On Windows, about the best you can do is hitting the Tab key, and possibly also Ctrl+R to hide the rulers, and then Ctrl+0 to fit to the window. skiphunt Posted December 7, 2019 Author Posted December 7, 2019 In Photoshop there was a two-key command that got rid of everything but the image and fit to page in one stroke. If that doesn't exist in Affinity, it'd be a nice thing for the devs to add. Very handy when the client is looking over your shoulder at the rough. Quote
Old Bruce Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 On Mac the defaults would be Tab followed by Command + 0 (zero). We'd still have the size of the image and the interface to deal with. Just no menubar. Your screen is full of toolbars, several apps open, and a messy desktop. Someone wants to see what you're working on. You can either quickly try to hide and clean stuff up... or, if you're in Photoshop you hit two keys. Everything is gone except the graphic/project you're working on. All the screen debris is gone in 2 seconds. You can zoom in/out if you like. That's handy and I don't see how that utility could actually "baffle" anyone. I used it all the time with clients when I used Photoshop. It makes so much sense that I'm kind of "baffled" why Affinity hasn't included the same. Jowday 1 Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 I would be working with the application maximized, usually, so only it is on-screen. I would then hit Tab to tidy the workspace. If I choose to have other applications visible on the screen, that's my choice and I wouldn't expect Affinity to clean up the other applications. If anything should provide a function for that it's the OS, in my opinion. But thanks for the explanation. One is to hide the desktop background image, which can be very useful in graphics editing apps if (like for me) that image has strong colors & patterns that would influence the perceived color of the work. It is also makes it impossible to accidentally click on something outside the FS app, bringing that to the front. Maximized is not the same as full screen. The former leaves the Mac toolbar & Dock visible; the latter does not. skiphunt Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 It looks like you all get what I'm asking about and likely understand the usefulness. I really figured someone would say "Hit CTRL M" or something like that. I'm surprised there's not something like that as an easy quick command or at least a pulldown from the View menu. I didn't know what to search for in the FAQ. Because I figured it surely already existed, I figured this would be a thread with one OP, and one answer. I've used that feature for so long in Photoshop that I figured it was just one of those functions most apps would have. Surprised that Affinity doesn't have it. Never mind I guess. Jowday 1 Quote
