AlanT Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Hello, I have a client asking about having a hymnal laid out, and I want to check if anyone has any suggestions for doing this type of project. The main thing I'd like to know is whether there are any tools for automatically numbering the hymns within the book (completely separate from page numbers), and for creating multiple indices for topics, title, etc. This is of particular interest in case they decide to change the order after the initial layout, as the hymn numbers and page numbers would change throughout the book, and it would take a significant amount of time to update 300+ pages if even ONE hymn gets moved. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. - Alan Quote
AlanT Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 Just realized this went to the wrong forum topic, and can't find a way to delete or move it. If a moderator can move this to the right place, that would be great! Quote
Staff Callum Posted December 6, 2019 Staff Posted December 6, 2019 Hi Alan T, Welcome to the forums The best way to do this would be creating a text style for numbered lists. You can find out how to do this by watching my video below. When you then delete one of the text boxes that contains a number the rest update to reflect the new numbers. Thanks C hymns.mov Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
ETC Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Callum, I appreciate your showing how to do that. I see many uses for this automatic renumbering of text. Thanks for your video. Eric Quote
AlanT Posted December 7, 2019 Author Posted December 7, 2019 I also appreciate you taking the time to answer, although for some reason, the video doesn't play for me. it looks like it loads, then it jumps from beginning to end without playing. Quote
