000
Hi, I have a text document with 80 pages, 3 columns and the text is set up with 8 different text styles, all lines set to "use baseline grid". When I include any flow settings into the paragraph styles (e.g. "keep header with three lines of text" or "keep info1 with previous paragraph") the software crashed, when I start editing the text and the amount of lines of text in the document changes (e.g. deleting a word and causing a paragraph length to change by one line, deleting a blanc line between paragraphs or adding a line of text somewhere) -- I guess that Publisher somewhere craps up when trying to re-calculate the whole document while maintaining the flow settings active. When I delete / deactivate all flow settings, the same document works fine. Quick edit: This bug also crashes the release version 1.7.
Staff Jon P Posted December 5, 2019 Staff Share Posted December 5, 2019 Can you upload the file here and I'll take a look, thanks! Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
curlypaws
I'm seeing this with beta 1.8.0.535 running under macOS 10.15.2. Setting any kind of paragraph flows immediately crashes the app. This is a document which I created in the 1.8.0 betas so I can't open it under 1.7.3. But my other documents created and edited under 1.7.3 have no issue with altering paragraph flows.
Staff Jon P Posted January 23, 2020 Staff Share Posted January 23, 2020 @curlypaws Do you mind upload the file to this link? Is it reproducible setting the flow on any paragraph in your document? Thanks curlypaws 1 Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
curlypaws
Hi Jon, I've uploaded the file to the link that you provided, hopefully you can reproduce. I see the crash every time I tick "Keep paragraph together" both while "Prevent orphaned first lines" and "Prevent widowed last lines" are ticked, and if I clear them and then select "Keep paragraph together". Thanks, Karen
Staff Jon P Posted January 23, 2020 Staff Share Posted January 23, 2020 I've found if I click it once it doesn't crash but it also doesn't do what I'd expect, and the checkbox remains unticked. If I click it again it then crashes - somethings definitely wrong here so I'll get this passed on! Thanks for the report Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
Old Bruce
Crashed here on Mac 10.14.6 A note, If I have a paragraph style I do not want to break at all I use "Keep paragraph together" and don't use Widows and/or Orphans as they are implied. However it shouldn't crash. Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4 Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Staff Patrick Connor Posted February 17, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 17, 2020 We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Crash when ticking "Keep paragraph together" in flow options) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below. The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts. Affinity Publisher 1.8.0.556 for Windows Affinity Publisher 1.8.0.556 for Mac These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version. Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.0 update/patch to all customers.
