AffDes (Mac): Adding gives wrong result

Recommended Posts

I need to make the 2 black objects into one.
The result must look the same, but as 1 object.
The red object is the result after using the "Add".
I've tried the "Add" boolean, but it gives the wrong result.
Please see the attachment.
I've tried various methods, also starting out with the two objects as "Lines", but the result is always the same.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to achieve this.

Depending on what you want to do with that pair of objects, the simplest method may be to select both & from the Layer > Geometry submenu select "Merge Curves."

This creates a "Curves" object, so it is actually two curves in one layer, but unlike the red "Curves" object it does not close either curve or ignore straight lines that enclose no area, which is why the vertical straight line contributed nothing to the add geometry operation. If that line had been curved, the results would have been like below, but with multiple closed curves:

"Merge Curves" avoids all that & the need to expand the curves & deal with lots of extra nodes. Don't Add, Merge.afdesign has the (very short) history included.
