Add and Combine cause Designer to hang

Attached is a very simple file that has two curve layers.

I would like to use either Add or Combine to merge the two curves into one.

Each time, I do this Affinity hangs on the operation.

I've tried experimenting on other simple shapes. With some shapes, it will work fine. With others, it will hang just like this one.

Here's another example:

Run "Create Compound" on the attached shape.  The Compound will be created but Affinity Designer will freeze.

Tried it your way and it freezes up.
Take the curves(with an S) object only and press divide,you will get multiple curve objects,with all these objects selected>add ,it becomes one curve object.
Now you can create compound or add with the remaining curve object.

These are good workarounds, so thanks for your help! 

However, it would be nice if Serif could investigate the bugs. When the program freezes, it makes for very frustrating user experience. Given how central geometry tools are to Designer, the freezing is disappointing.
