Money well spent for the class. The techniques, such as using one layer to do one job, are exactly the things I need to learn in order to become a better image editor. I own and have taken almost all of these classes. I honestly don’t know how I could have learned as much about photo editing and about Affinity without having taken Simon’s classes. I know there are lots of tutorials on YouTube about Affinity, but those generally are focused only on one very specific topic.  The Affinity photo Workbook is good, but has a pretty, limited set of exercises.  Simon has put a lot of thought into presenting his material in the context of a workflow to fix problems with and improve your photos.  Each lesson is designed to advance the whole purpose of each course.  I can’t recommend his classes enough. Plus, he responds to questions about his classes.  For $10 each, they are a real bargain.  If I had to pick one. I think it would probably be Solid Foundations or Beginner to Pro via Reference and Workflow.

Hi @drippy cat

I'm new to Affinity. I've been using ON1 Photo Raw 2019 since July and recently the trial version of Dxo PhotoLab. My photography is mainly shooting shelter dogs (occasional portrait, landscape, etc). I cull in FastRawViewer before importing.

My workflow is pretty basic: crop, straighten, adjust WB, tone down highlights, sharpen eyes, remove distracting objects, etc. Nothing too complicated as you can see. Is the raw dev course your choice -or- the beginner to pro course?

Steve! Thanks so much for your kind words! After the day I've had I really appreciated reading them.

im140.6 - why not try the Five Steps course and see how you get on? It's free so you can't lose. Beyond that I'd agree with SteveB523 - the Solid Foundations or Beginner to Pro via Reference and Workflow. Maybe the latter if you go through the 5 steps course first.

I'm going through your free Five Steps course now and I'm enjoying it. I'll look a little closer at Beginner to Pro later tonight. Thank you and have a great weekend!
