I have just started using Publisher having used PagePlus for many years. My query is about file sizes, on svaing a service booklet the file size on Publish was 947 KB whilst the same file on PagePlus x9 is 40KB. What am I going wrong please? In both cases the one image is linked.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @RevRats. :)

You’re not “going wrong”. As far as I’m aware, APub doesn’t yet have true linking in the PP sense: although linked content is updated if you edit the source file, the Affinity file includes an embedded copy of the content instead of simply containing a pointer to the source (so it follows that the file will generally be much bigger than its PP counterpart).

1.7.3 has linking for image files (JPG, TIFF, PNG), though there will also be a low-res preview embedded. Document files (PDF, .afphoto, .afdesign, ...) have a completeembedded copy, even when Linked.

The 1.8 beta extends the linking to include document files as well as image files.
