[Studio Link] Publisher and Photo: Info panel settings reset

_TM

Recommended Posts

Every time I open Publisher and switch to Photo, the Info panel is cleared out from the settings that I used previously (I have RGB and CMYK info opened). The info/settings are retained only until I switch back to Publisher. When I go back to Photo, it's all gone again.

When I use Photo on its own it doesn't have this issue but the info panel gets reset with Studio Link.

I can duplicate that, too, but only if I change pages after I go back to the Publisher Persona and before I switch back to the Photo Persona. If I simply switch back-and-forth between the two Personas the Info panel contents remain.

Hi _TM,

As Walt has said I believe every page has its own set of Info Panels, of which only the first page has them by default.  Are you working on a document with multiple pages? They're actually spread based, so it allows you to have different sampler points per spread.

It is surprising to the user, though, to see an empty Info panel. As there's a default set (RGB, CMYK) on the first Info panel that's opened, perhaps that should be a default set for all the spread-based panels.

Yes, my document has multiple pages/spreads. That was the whole point of my workflow for editing my images through Publisher and Studio Link. :) I could just open them up individually in Photo and edit them there but that defeats the purpose of Studio Link. I use the info panel to check the RGB and CMYK values for some images and I need the same info panel throughout the document. Having the info panel with different samplers or settings for different pages or spreads seems redundant to me.

It will probably be annoying to have to do this on every page, but I wanted to make sure you know that you can add the RGB and CMYK sections to any of the Info panels by using the settings (burger) menu.

I hope that Serif will consider making those the defaults, as having Info panels without them is weird.

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Photo Persona: Each spread should have RGB and CMYK samplers in the Info Panel
) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below.

The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts.

These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version.

Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.0 update/patch to all customers.
